01 / Start with your purpose
A sourcing hub.
A trip with a clear job.
Guangzhou sourcing can bring together trade-fair conversations, product browsing and supplier appointments. The useful question is not “How many places can I visit?” It is “What do I need to learn before my next decision?”
Explore a category.
Use relevant fairs or wholesale showrooms to compare products and understand the questions buyers are asking. Record differences in materials, finishes and order requirements.
Find a production fit.
Start with a product brief and targeted supplier discovery. Ask where the relevant production happens before building a trip around a company’s Guangzhou sales address.
Meet a shortlist.
Use confirmed appointments to clarify capabilities, review samples and resolve open questions. A factory visit needs a specific purpose and permission to see the relevant work.
Guangzhou hosts the Canton Fair and has established product trading clusters. Nearby cities offer different industrial starting points, described below. A regional cluster helps direct research; it does not establish the suitability of an individual supplier.
For the complete sourcing process, start with the China guide02 / Where to find suppliers
Four channels.
Different kinds of answers.
Choose the channel that fits your current question. A fair booth, a market stall, an online listing and a production-site meeting provide different views of the business.
Canton Fair
Category discovery & initial conversations
Compare relevant exhibitors and ask focused questions about product fit. Check the official category and phase information before planning attendance; an appointment list is more useful than a plan to walk every hall.
Which legal entity does the exhibitor represent? Where is the proposed production site? Who can answer technical questions after the fair?
First-time buyer guideWholesale markets
Existing ranges, samples & product comparison
Use a relevant market or showroom to examine available ranges and ask about replenishment, customisation and order quantities. Browsing stock can reveal product options; it may not answer a custom manufacturing brief.
Is the seller the producer, a distributor or a trading business? Does the sample match what will be supplied? Ask about the actual order basis rather than assuming “wholesale” means factory-direct.
Understand supplier rolesOnline discovery
Build candidates before travelling
Search your product, material or process, then contact relevant companies. Use Guangzhou or a nearby industrial area as a research filter when useful; do not exclude a better-fit manufacturer simply because it is elsewhere.
Save the company name, product response and location stated. Ask whether the listed address is an office, showroom or factory, and what evidence is available for the claimed capability.
Find manufacturer candidatesSupplier & factory meetings
Resolve questions with a shortlist
Arrange a showroom meeting to review samples, or a production-site visit to discuss the work relevant to your product. Agree the agenda, attendees and access before committing the travel time.
Confirm the actual meeting address and the production location separately. Ask who will attend, which processes can be discussed or seen, and whether photography or sample handling is restricted.
Prepare the meeting03 / Match product and area
Use the region
as a research filter.
These are selected category clues, not a market ranking or supplier directory. Use them to narrow research, then confirm each company’s product fit, role and current address.
Apparel
Liuhua · Yuexiu
Guangzhou’s Liuhua area includes apparel wholesale venues such as LIUHUA Fashion Wholesale Market. It is a starting point for browsing garment ranges.
Ask next Existing stock or custom production? Which factory would make your order?

Shiling · Huadu
Shiling in Guangzhou’s Huadu district has an established leather-goods industry. Research by the bag type, material and production process you actually need.
Ask next What materials, construction methods and sample process match your brief?

Panyu · Guangzhou
Panyu has an established jewellery industry. Specify the product, material and finish before searching; a broad jewellery label leaves too much unanswered.
Ask next Which production steps are handled by this company, and what evidence supports the material claims?

Foshan · Shunde
Foshan has furniture and home-appliance industries; Shunde is a relevant home-appliance research area. Select candidates by product and process, rather than city name alone.
Ask next Are you visiting a showroom or the relevant production site? What order and destination requirements fit?

Dongguan
Dongguan has an electronic-information manufacturing base, including circuit boards and connectors. Search the particular component or manufacturing capability required.
Ask next Which processes are in-house, which are outsourced, and where does the relevant work take place?

Shenzhen
Shenzhen’s electronic-information sector makes it another research direction for electronics projects. Clarify whether the candidate offers design, manufacturing or a trading role.
Ask next Who owns the design work, who manufactures the product, and who will be your commercial counterpart?
Source: Shenzhen municipal governmentSources, geographic scope & limits
The linked market operator and municipal sources support the category and area descriptions. Foshan, Dongguan and Shenzhen are separate cities, not districts of Guangzhou. For Shunde’s home-appliance cluster, see the Foshan High-tech Zone’s Shunde profile. Some cluster descriptions are historical: they do not confirm a particular venue’s current tenants, access, stock or supplier availability. Confirm those directly before travel. The visit questions and channel framework are QGO’s practical guidance, not supplier endorsements or a formal audit standard.
04 / Regional supplier visits
Choose the meetings.
Then connect the places.
A Guangzhou base can be useful for a regional business visit. Adding Foshan, Dongguan or Shenzhen should follow a relevant supplier appointment — not a desire to tick off four cities.

Confirm the destination
The address matters.
Get the meeting location in Chinese and English, a named contact and confirmation of what happens there. A Guangzhou office may represent production elsewhere. Keep office, showroom and factory addresses distinct.
Protect the purpose
Leave room to learn.
Agree what you want to discuss and who needs to attend. Allow room for sample review, interpretation and follow-up notes. Reconfirm appointments before finalising transportation.
05 / Before you meet suppliers
Bring a brief.
Leave with a useful record.
Give each meeting the same starting information. Record the answers against that brief so that products, quotations and supplier claims can be compared after the trip.
One worksheet.
Every planned meeting.
Prepare your product requirements, candidate details and unanswered questions before travel. Keep a separate meeting record for each company, including what it said, what you saw and what still needs evidence.
Download Visit WorksheetEditable TXT · no registration required
After each meeting, choose a next action: request evidence, arrange another conversation or set the candidate aside. More meetings are not automatically better progress.
Tick what you have prepared. This is a visit checklist, not supplier approval.

Before allocating visit time
Initial screening
Clarify whether a candidate appears relevant to the brief and whether important company or location information is missing. Keep the limits of the available evidence visible.
Supplier Search & Pre-Visit ScreeningBefore a commercial commitment
Deeper verification
Match the depth of checking to the decision and risk. A productive meeting, a market presence or a site visit does not establish supplier quality, compliance or transaction security.
Supplier Due Diligence & Verification06 / China-side execution support
Your sourcing direction.
Local coordination that fits.
QGO can help coordinate the China-side work around a Guangzhou sourcing visit. Start with your product brief, available shortlist and the questions you want the trip to answer.

What remains with the buyer
- Product requirements, final supplier selection and purchasing decisions.
- Price or contract negotiation, purchasing and production management.
- Qualified inspection, audit, technical and legal decisions where required.
